When The Flash Is Necessary

I don't like my flash, at all. But sometimes it is just plain unavoidable, then my love for Photoshop is clearly demonstrated.

A few nights ago I was tucking my daughter in and for the first time she grabbed her baby doll and held her close. I booked it for my camera, dashed back in the room and popped the flash open for this shot. I wasn't going to turn the light on and completely ruin her sleep routine for a photo so I had to settle with it. I thought it was cute, but was seriously annoyed with the usual faults of flash, namely it completely washing her naturally wondrous complexion out. But then I was playing around with it and by evening out the levels and upping the saturation considerably, I got to this. A true representation of what she looked like that night.

I love the shot of the family at the green table. VERY cute! I also LOVE that picture of Sienna. So adorable.
We need to get together this week.
